"Healthy Hour"
You are invited to join our healthy lifestyle classes every other Wednesday. These classes are a great way to meet others on the same "healthy" path. All classes are lead by Dr. Toni Vaughan and Stacy Maxwell our nutrition and wellness coach.
ALL CLASSES START AT 6:30 P.M. (except Pot Luck in December)
August 4th Food & Mood
When life gets stressful, many of us reach for that pint of ice cream, chocolate bar or bag of chips to relax. We’ll discuss emotional food cravings and what nutritious foods are the top 10 “Good Mood Foods”.
August 18th – Vision Board Workshop!
Have you always wanted to start a vision board? Do you have a vision board that needs updating? Join us for a hands-on workshop where you will be empowered to create a vision of the future you truly desire. Feel free to bring your vision board if you have one, plus your own pictures, clippings and decorations – we will provide magazines for clipping, scissors, markers, glue and starter poster boards.
September 1st – NO CLASS - Self-Guided Homework
Stacy and Dr. Vaughan are on vacation this week, but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook! Your assignment, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to eat one new fruit/vegetable or try a new, healthy restaurant. Be prepared to share at our next meetup or post your findings.
September 15th – Exercise: Move It And Lose It!
Learn the easiest exercises to lose fat and gain muscle! Get tips and strategies for starting your new fitness routine. We will also discuss some of the basic science behind exercise.
September 29th – Super Uses for Superfoods
Goji berries, raw cacao, maca, spirulina, bee pollen – these and many other superfoods are the talk of the health and wellness community. But what do you DO with them? In this delicious class we will demonstrate simple, tasty ways to incorporate a variety of superfoods into your diet. Sample tasty treats and take home recipes for each one!
October 13th – Dining Out Healthy
Maintaining a healthy eating plan and also dining out with friends, family and coworkers is possible with a few simple tools. This class offers strategies and helpful hints for making healthy choices in restaurants.
October 17th – Back Care Basics
Back pain affects 80% of Americans at some time in their lives. Learn the causes of back pain and the steps you can take to avoid back injuries and/or pain. We’ll discuss how simple changes in your lifestyle can avoid or eliminate back pain. Various natural treatment options will also be discussed. Demonstration includes simple stretching, office ergonomics and proper back posture.
November 10th – Beat the Holiday Bulge!
The holiday season is full of opportunities to indulge. We will explore healthier options from Thanksgiving through the Superbowl and everything in between! Recipe makeovers, healthy party tips and strategies to help you beat the holiday bulge!
December 1st – Holiday Zen
Stress symptoms soar during the holiday season – learn how your body processes stress and how to use simple methods to manage your stress. In this interactive class we will practice stress reducing techniques and share successful strategies (bring your best ideas…no stress though…J).
December 15th – Healthy Hour Potluck! – Early start time tonight – 6:00pm!
Join us for the first ever Healthy Hour Potluck! Bring a healthy dish to share with the group – plus the recipe for swapping! This evening we will focus on enjoying healthy food, recipes and the great company of other healthy-minded folks.
